Mike Pence Just got busted attempting to cozy up to Mueller!
The investigation into Russia’s meddling in 2016 presidential election has exposed a lot of suspects, mostly in Trump administration. While the investigation is still going on, a previously unreported overture from Vice President Mike Pence’s legal team toward Special Prosecutor Mueller’s Russia investigation team has just come to light tonight.
After Mueller was selected to investigate the Trump campaign’s alleged Kremlin collusion, his former Justice Department colleague, Richard Cullen, chairman of McGuire Woods, the law firm that represents Pence, reached out to reveal that VP Pence desired to cooperate with the investigation.
Even though Pence had told anyone who will listen that the infamous June 9, 2016, Trump Tower meeting amongst uppermost Trump campaign aides — incorporating then-campaign chair Paul Manafort, First Son Don Jr., and First Son-in-Law Jared Kushner — transpired before he was picked as a running mate, it was Russia-backed Manafort himself who fought hard for Pence to share the ticket.
While evidence mounts of Pence’s assistance in a cover-up of the Trump campaign’s Russia associations, so do the heat on Pence to flip.
Even though Pence’s office did not make any remark on tonight’s report, it would not be beyond the realm of possibility for them to have secretly leaked his offer to participate in the investigation.
After all, as the vice tightens around Trump’s inner circle, it may be worth risking the president’s anger, in order to grab a lifeboat going as far as possible from his sinking ship.
